Our inaugural sushi critique-- Drunken Fish

Every time he's in town,  my friend Jorge and I eat sushi at the various establishments in Saint Louis.  So we decided to start a blog with our opinions of each.   This is the first critique, though not the first restaurant.

On January 24, 2014, we critiqued our first sushi restaurant.  Originally, this was supposed to be Chi Sushi Sake in the CWE, but—in spite of the listing on Yelp—it was not open for lunch.  So we made our way to Drunken Fish, also on Euclid in the CWE.

To start, I ordered coffee and Jorge requested green tea.  However, our server informed us that the restaurant was out of tea—all tea—but offered Jorge the teabag in her purse.  She was very attentive and friendly.

We ate off their happy hour menu the following:
Miso soup
White tiger roll
Spider roll
Shrimp tempura roll

The happy hour had three separate times; the lunchtime one ran from 11am - 12 noon.  The prices were quite a bargain, though most of the special rolls on it were spicy.

The miso soup was delicious—just the right amount of soy and seaweed, with excellent flavoring

The white tiger roll was spicy, and while good, the spices interfered with truly enjoying the flavors of the other two rolls

Both the spider and shrimp tempura rolls contained asparagus, and very little of the named seafood.  While tasty, both were disappointing.  The tempura rolls were also very skimpy on the breading on the shrimp.

Overall, the sushi was tasty and pretty, though a bit disappointing.
